As core components of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, its Air Traffic Control Building, Terminal Building and Area Control Center constitute the key technical hubs. The control tower attached to the Terminal Building stands 112 meters high, ranking the tallest in China and the second tallest in Asia. Integrating service facilities for navigation, surveillance, communication and meteorology, it forms an efficient air traffic control service system together with advanced radar surveillance systems, instrument landing systems and the Central South Regional Air Traffic Control Center. A central computer room inside the Terminal Building delivers technical support to ensure the effective operation of the entire airport. The Area Control Center covers a controlled airspace of over 400,000 square kilometers. Based in Guangzhou, it implements radar control over high-altitude civil aviation flights across Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan and Hubei, as well as medium and low-altitude civil aviation flights within Guangzhou, maximizing the air traffic control capacity for civil aviation in the Central South Region.


The project implementation involved coordination and integration across dozens of disciplines, including command and dispatch systems, power supply and distribution systems, integrated cabling systems, air conditioning systems, lighting systems, lightning protection and earthing systems, gas fire-fighting systems and monitoring systems. In coordination with all technical trades, we strived to fully leverage the functions of products and the performance of structural workmanship. In particular, we tackled numerous on-site technical challenges by utilizing the earthing function of the raised access floor support system and adopting extra-high supports.


Upon completion, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport boasts world-class hardware technological sophistication and intelligent management systems. Featuring outstanding innovation and high technical standards in design, construction and technology, the project leads the development of similar engineering works and delivers remarkable economic and social benefits. This project was eventually awarded the Zhan Tianyou Civil Engineering Prize. We are gratified that the wisdom and dedication of Hui’an people are embedded in this landmark achievement!
