Guangzhou Metro Line 1’s operation system employs German Siemens equipment and technologies, with domestic design coordinated by China Railway No.2 Survey and Design Institute. At that time, domestic metro design experience was limited. Half a year before the planned opening, a critical omission was found: equipment earthing was not included in the design. Siemens, the equipment supplier and service provider, declined to carry out installation without a viable earthing solution.
Guangzhou Metro immediately organized all stakeholders to work out remedies. Our technical team put forward a feasible plan: using our anti-static raised access floor support system as an earthing carrier to realize equipotential bonding, satisfying the earthing specifications of imported equipment and clearing Siemens’ technical doubts.
Siemens approved our scheme and drawings, and commenced full-scale installation within three days. Guangzhou Metro Line 1 was officially opened on June 28, 1997 as planned. Up to now, Guangzhou Metro Corporation and China Railway No.2 Survey and Design Institute still speak highly of Huian Technology for its product performance and valuable contributions to the metro project.
